Human Resources Director

Reports to: Operator

Hours needed: 20-25/week depending on hiring needs.

The Human Resources Director exists to attract, hire, and retain top talent while providing a precise, industry leading, and seamless on-boarding, benefits and payroll experience for employees. The person in this role will communicate with all Directors to verify that all areas of Human resources are covered and will work on a team in all hiring processes and policies.


Duties of the Human Resources Director include:

  • Recruiting:

    • Being aware of and involved in local job fairs

    • Advertising for hiring needs and open interviews

    • Community involvement. This includes working with local schools, youth groups, etc., to acquire high-level leaders

  • Staffing:

    • Keep in contact with scheduler to be aware of how many people are needed and for what time of the day

    • Review candidates and set up interviews. Communicating with Manager/Director performing the second interview

    • Upon hiring, provide offer letter and begin the onboarding process.

      • Onboarding includes the completion of paperwork, added to the HR system, and valid info added to HotSchedules

      • Review all onboarding documentation to check for accuracy

  • Benefits:

    • Discuss pay and inform new employees of benefits offered

    • Insurance: check HR site for those qualifying for insurance. Also take care of open enrollment during enrollment period at the end of the year

    • Scholarship: inform employees of CFA scholarship opportunities and encourage them to apply. Provide guidance and assistance in this area

    • Simple retirement: make employees aware and informed about our simple retirement program. Assist with signing up

  • Training:

    • Work with Training Director to ensure proper training program is being implemented

  • Retention:

    • Evaluations: work with person performing evals to ensure they are being done consistently and including the right information.

    • Work on scheduling a time for employees to meet with their mentors (if Team Member is in the Summit Leadership Academy)

    • Work on rewards, outings, and other activities that can be used to motivate the team.

    • Policies and Labor laws

    • Constantly review store and company policies to ensure we are up to date and expectations are clear

    • Be up to date on labor laws and ensure all required signage is visible in the store and up to date

    • Be aware of safety procedures in the store and make sure safety requirements are met.

    • Employee Protection

    • Performing disciplinary conversations and terminations

    • Time punch monitoring

    • Employee mediation

      • make contact information available so team can contact you about personal or store related issues.

  • Miscellaneous:

    • Manage and submit bi-weekly payroll information for all staff


Job requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree, preferably in business or human resources field of study

  • Effective organizational skills to keep track of multiple priorities, tasks, situations, and people

  • Must be comfortable using the computer

  • Comfort with Email/Google drive

  • Skill with Microsoft Office products

  • Ability to learn HR online platform

  • Customer service experience

  • Team player

  • Effectively coach and give direction to Team Members

  • Have strong communication skills and an ability to coach employees through conflict      

  • Ability to work well independently and in a team environment
